ACTivating growth through psychotherapy, consultation, and training

Welcome to Lou Lasprugato Psychotherapy & Training PLLC. On this site, you’ll find information related to my psychotherapy, consultation, and training services.

My primary therapeutic approach that informs all of these services is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), of which I’m a peer-reviewed trainer with the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS).

ACT is a third-wave evidenced-based behavioral therapy that fosters psychological flexibility, which can be viewed as consciously attending to our here-and-now experience, with openness, while connecting with and committing our values into action. Or, put simply—to be open, aware, and engaged.

Promoting psychological flexibility, while undermining psychological inflexibility, has been shown in numerous studies* to mediate outcomes across many mental health conditions and human experiences, including:

  • depression, trauma, addiction

  • anxiety/OCD, disordered eating

  • intimate relationships, parenting

Yet, beyond the therapeutic model and its evidence base, I view the relationship, between me and those I serve, as central to the work.

Psychotherapy:

I’m a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California and Virginia, and a registered Telehealth provider for Vermont. I provide virtual therapy for individuals and couples. I view therapy as a precious investment of your values and vulnerabilities, and I aim to honor that investment with my commitment to your well-being and growth.

Consultation:

I offer individual/group consultation on ACT and contextual behavioral approaches more broadly. Depending upon your goals/objectives, such consultation can include conceptual, experiential, and/or practical training on ACT’s core competencies, fidelity, case conceptualization and treatment planning…

Training:

I offer group-and-organization-based ACT and RFT training as workshops and didactic presentations via both virtual and in-person formats. Trainings can vary from a 2-hr ACT overview to 2-day ACT events and will include contextual behavioral principles to theoretically orient participants to the model, as well as some degree of experiential involvement.
